Departure: Tony Mitchell, a defensive back for Alabama Enters the transfer portal…….

The fourth player from the Crimson Tide to transfer during the spring window is Tony Mitchell.

 

Tony Mitchell, the defensive back for Alabama, logged into the transfer site on Tuesday night, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

“BREAKING: DB from Alabama According to  On3sports, he has completed the required paperwork to gain access to the Transfer Portal. Three of the 6’2 205 DB’s eligibility will remain, “Fawcett stated on X (previously known as Twitter).

As the fourth member of the Crimson Tide to leave during the spring transfer window, Mitchell joins redshirt sophomore offensive lineman James Brockermeyer, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry, and freshman defensive back Peyton Woodyard, who announced his transfer on Monday. Mitchell played primarily on special teams during his first season with the Crimson Tide, recording one tackle in seven games.

Out of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, Mitchell was a 4-star recruit in 2023 and was rated as the consensus No. 116 talent in the country, No. 10 safety, and No. 12 player in the state.

On June 26, 2022, he selected Alabama over Georgia, Texas A&M, and Auburn as his final three picks.

Since his time in Tuscaloosa started out rough, he is hoping for a fresh start in his next chapter. In Holmes County, Florida, on March 15, 2023, Mitchell and Christopher Lewis were taken into custody with 226 grams of marijuana, a loaded firearm, and over $7,000 in cash. After Mitchell and Lewis were pulled over for exceeding 141 miles per hour, all of the evidence was discovered during a traffic stop.

Mitchell was put on three years of probation on May 24.Along with paying $1,560, he is also expected to receive drug counseling and perform 100 hours of community service. Mitchell was cleared to resume football activities on June 1st, which explains his performance from the previous campaign.
